Logo Recreation

OVERVIEW

You have been hired as a graphic designer by Big Time Logo, Inc.  They want you to replicate 3 logos as they are for the business. You are to follow the directions given by the project manager for the target audience to complete the project.  Once complete then you should review the checklist for grading criteria before turning in your work.

OBJECTIVE

Applying your knowledge of basic shapes and the pen tool and combining them with the Pathfinder panel and the Shape Builder tool. Students will recreate logos of varying complexity.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Save the 3 logos below to your drive.
  2. Open a new Illustrator file and create 3 artboards that are 5″ wide by 5″ height.
  3. Place and embed each of the logos on each of the artboards. Place them all on their own separate layers so you can lock them to redraw.
  4. Use the pen tool to recreate each logo.  Expand the logo so it takes up the whole 5″ x 5″ artboard.
  5. Save frequently so you don’t lose your work if by accident your application quits.
  6. When you are finished save your final work as an illustrator file format called: (logorecreation_(yourinitials))
  7. Submit the Final .ai file in the network drive for review.

ASSESSMENT

You will be graded according to the following checklist below to earn a total of 10 points for each graphic:

  • Used pen tool to recreate the images
  • Used fill on tool bar to fill in areas of color
  • Curved areas are smooth edges
  • Added a drop shadow where instructed
  • Added a gradient fill where instructed
  • Added rounded caps where instructed
  • Changed transparency where instructed
  • Recreated 3 logos
  • Graphic file is saved as a proper AI file and named properly
  • Final graphic file is submitted on time in the network drive
