Favorite Things Collage

OVERVIEW

Collage is a technique of an art production, primarily used in the visual arts, where the artwork is made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole. In this project students use what they learned in class about selection methods and layers to create a new image (collage) that showcases their favorite things. It can be anything from favorite color, music, book, food, to subject, car or sports team. It should be a visual identity of you.

OBJECTIVE

Using selection methods, layers, the crop and resize tool, image adjustments, and other Photoshop tools students will create a collage of images that represents themselves and their Photoshop skills.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In Photoshop begin by setting a new file size to 8″x 8″, CMYK color, and 300 ppi. Immediately save it as PSD file.
  2. Place images (source files) you like to use for your collage into new layers. Use at least 8 different images and at least 1 background color/texture/photo.
  3. Using Photoshop tools select, mask, crop, combine, overlap or blend images, creating collage of images.
  4. Use the design principles to help you arrange (design) the images in an interesting manner.
  5. Save frequently so you don’t lose your work if by accident your application quits.
  6. When you are finished save your final work as a JPG file format, so it compresses all layers.
  7. You will submit the Final .JPG file and the final .PSD File for review.
