OVERVIEW

For this project you will create an image that has you positioned in multiple areas of an environment that relates to your interests.

OBJECTIVE

Using a digital device to take pictures students will use Photoshop tools and techniques including, masks and selections tools to create an image that includes the student in many positions in one environment.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Start sketching and thinking of ideas of the environment and your positions in that environment.

2. With the help of a friend you will set up a tripod and camera and take a series of photos. You will need:

  • 2 photos of the background
  • 2 photos of you in one place in the background
  • 2 photos of you in a second location the background
  • 2 photos of you in a third location the background
  • 2 photos of you in a fourth location the background

3. You will choose the best 5 pictures and combine them into Photoshop to create an image. Using the Photoshop techniques that we have learned you will make good selections, use copy and paste, and layers to create the MOST realistic scene possible from your 5 images.

4. Once the images are inserted use Photoshop selection tools to correct the look of the photos: color, lightness, darkness, edges, etc.

5. Save the file as a .PSD. This will keep all of the layers. Then compress the file by saving it as a .JPG and submit it.

ASSESSMENT

You will be graded according to the following criteria to earn a total of 35 points:

  • Project turned on time. (5 pts.)
  • All files set up and saved in correct format. ( 5 pts.)
  • Effective use of Photoshop tools (selections, masks, blending tools, layers). (5 pts.)
  • Effective color correction and adjustments (5 pts)
  • Quality of work and Photoshop techniques, originality, imagination, and detail – Elements of image create visual unity, proportion of elements, color balance,… (5 pts.)
  • Overall design is visually appealing. (5 pts.)
  • Student always uses classroom project time well. Conversations are primarily focused on the project and things needed to get the work done and are held in a manner that typically does not disrupt others. (5 pts)
