Chapter 9: Project

Introduction

You can create powerful, dramatic, or informational presentations by combining sound with animation in Flash. Adding sound effects, music, or narration to visuals provides a more cinematic experience for your viewer, and can be much more emotional and have more impact.

In this project, you will create a slideshow showcasing your favorite actor, musician, season, or city and add a soundtrack to it. The slideshow is intended to be the centerpiece multimedia presentation to celebrate the your subject.

You must use many images, and more than one sound that matches the entire length of the 15 – 20 second long show. Coordinate the start times and volume levels of the sounds so they work together with the images. Feel free to play with the pacing of each image, or the order of the images, or change the transitions to make a more effective presentation.

  • You will also need to find your own sounds (Google free sound)

Required Submission Files

Your final deliverables are the source .FLA document CALLED: Project9(YOUR INITIALS) Place the finished .fla in the Network Drive

Grading Rubric (5 Points)

You will be graded according to the following criteria:

  • How effectively do the sounds work together?
  • How well are the sounds coordinated with the visuals?
  • How creatively have the visual elements been modified to suit the overall presentation?
  • Did you name your layers?
  • Did you follow directions?

Instructions

  1. Create a new HTML5 Canvas and set the stage to 500 x 300.
  2. Create a new 15-20 second long slideshow showcasing your favorite actor, musician, music group, season, or city. Use at least 8-10 images or more.
  3. Dowlnload and Import at least 2 music sound files into the Library.
  4. Add both sound files to the slideshow; each sound should be on its own layer.
  5. Edit each sound so the overlapping sounds don’t compete with each other. Consider whether you want both sounds to start together or whether to offset the sounds.
  6. Make sure you are using the Stream sync option for both sounds.
  7. Modify the timing and length of the slideshow elements to synchronize the sounds and the visuals.
  8. Save and submit your project accordingly: .FLA document CALLED: Project9(YOUR INITIALS) Place the finished .fla in the Network Drive
