Chapter 7: Plugins

WordPress plugins are bits of software that can be uploaded to to extend and expand the functionality of your WordPress site. There are tons, literally tons, of WordPress plugins available for free download from the WordPress.org Plugin Directory. There are also premium or paid WordPress plugins.

Chapter Objectives:

  • Understand plugins
  • Learn how to add, search,  and delete plugins
  • Understand how to update plugins

Instructions

Using your local website perform the following tasks.

  1. Delete the Hello Dolly Plugin.
  2. Install the Contact Form 7 Plugin and Activate it.
  3. Using your new Contact Form Plugin, create a new contact with any fields you want, (at least 4). form and Name it.  Name your form and copy the Shortcode that is given to you from the Form.
  4. Use the Shortcode Block to insert the Contact form you created onto the Contact Page.
  5. Explore the many different plugins WordPress has to offer and Download 1 additional plugin and use it somewhere in your site.
  6. Be sure to Update all changes to the site. – Show the Instructor when complete for credit.

Grading (10 Pts)

  • Is the Hello Dolly plugin deleted
  • A contact form in created using the correct plugin
  • A contact form is inserted on the correct page
  • An additional plugin is added to your site.
  • The exercise is submitted on time
