Chapter 11: Editing Video

In this chapter you should be able to create a timeline, import clips for it, and change the duration of the clips. You should also be able to apply basic motion and audio options, such as Zoom and Mute.

Goals for this Lesson

  • Create a video timeline in Photoshop.
  • Add media to a video group in the Timeline panel.
  • Add motion to still images.
  • Animate type and effects using keyframes.
  • Add transitions between video clips.
  • Include audio in a video file.
  • Render a video.

Exercise

Objective

In this project, you will create a ten second long video that shows your favorite things. The video should include audio, type, transitions, and filters. The Photoshop video will get outputted as a video file.

  • You met the minimum requirements of the project assignment, as outlined in the instructions and submission requirements.
  • You included 5 images with transitions and effects.
  • The video was at least 10 seconds long

  • Did you save the file appropriately?
  • Is the exercise submitted on time?

Instructions

  1. Create a new Photoshop document that has the Film and Video preset. Choose HDV/HDTV 720p/29.97 from the size menu.
  2. Next you will create a 10 second long video that has 5 images that are your favorite things, or that represent you. You will add the media to the timeline so it takes up to 10 seconds of length.
  3. Add at least 5 effects, one for each image, for example: Blur, scale, adjustment layers, Smart Filters, Zoom, etc..
  4. Add at least 3 transitions between images.
  5. Add audio to the video. (Google free sound files)
  6. Include an introductory title to the video that displays Your Name.
  7. Be creative!
  8. When you are satisfied with your work, save your work as a photoshop (.psd) file named: (yourinititals_Ch11Ex1). You will then render it as a MP4 video file and submit the MP4 file ONLY in the Network Drive.
